Three people in the foyer can tell you what she does. Nobody can tell you how the week actually sits on her. She did not choose the diagnosis, the quiet papers on the table, the job that used her until it did not, or the household that treated her like a tool and then like a problem. She is still in the second row. The room has learned to look past her the way a hallway learns a coat on a hook.

A man two pews over knows a version of the same silence. He showed up after the season that made him useful ended. The room thanked him. Then the room stopped asking. Invisibility in a church rarely looks like an empty seat. It looks like a full seat that has stopped being a person.

This is a sermon for a church that has people sitting in plain sight who have been used, dismissed, or driven to the edge of the room. If you preach Genesis 16 as a map of the hearer's feelings, you will lie. If you preach it as Yahweh finding Hagar in the wilderness, you give this church a God who sees people the household has already finished with.
