Faithfulness in the Ordinary Church: The Responsibility in the Room

A single Sunday from 1 Thessalonians 5:12-24 for a church that can print leadership on a banner and still leave the people unkept. Paul closes with named labor and named care: knowing and honoring those who labor, peace among yourselves, admonishing the disorderly, encouraging the faint-hearted, supporting the weak, patience toward all, no evil for evil, good for one another and for all, then rejoice, pray, thanks, testing what is good, refusing evil. Then he names the keeper: the God of peace himself will sanctify, and he who calls you is faithful. God forms holy people through small shared practices and his sustaining grace; the ordinary church is the responsibility in the room, not a platform that leaves the people unkept.
