Between Promise and Arrival

Israel stands between Yahweh's promise and the land. Spies return with grapes in their hands and grasshoppers in their mouths. The congregation weeps for Egypt. A generation later Moses warns a full house not to forget the God who brought them out, then sets life and death in front of them and tells them to choose. Fear can describe real walls and still lie about God. The crowd can sound unanimous and still be wrong. Fullness can erase memory. Between promise and arrival, Yahweh remains the one who gives, who goes with his people, and who will not be managed by a report.
