The Weight God Measures: For the Week You Did Not Choose

The scale is already on the counter. Someone used it last night to weigh coffee. This morning it is being asked to weigh something else. A number on a form. A story told to a neighbor. A conversation you have not had with the person who already lives in the house. Tuesday sent a household home with a week nobody voted for, and the chairs already know how to print a prayer list around the event.

The temptation that walks in behind the news is quieter than grief. It is the small lie that would make the week cheaper. Shade the number. Soften the report. Keep the second chair out of the decision. If you preach Proverbs 11 as a technique for making an unchosen week pay you back, you will lie. Preach it as wisdom: integrity and wise counsel build what dishonest gain cannot sustain.
