It does not have the actual sentence. That is how a church starts the week it did not choose: the week the whole truth walked into the hallway and the first instinct was to manage the lighting. Someone wants to call it a mistake. Someone else wants to skip to restoration before anyone has to say the verb. Both instincts can be fear dressed as care.

Psalm 51 will not scold the fear. It will refuse the smaller truth. This is a sermon for a church walking into a week it did not pick, the week the whole truth can no longer be managed. If you preach Psalm 51 as a private mood, you will lie. If you preach it as a technique that makes consequences disappear, you will lie in a different direction. Preach it as a prayer that stops managing appearances and asks God for a clean heart, and you give this church a way to tell the truth that does not depend on a prettier public hour first.
