Stop Limping Between Two: What This Changes Between Us

Ready to Preach

Yahweh will not share the Name with a second altar, so this church cannot keep one unofficial we-can-keep-both sentence as the last word the rest of the room has to live under.

The foyer still has two versions of the same Name. Last month this church said Yahweh is God after a named stall went public between two households. One household received that sentence as cover. The chairs around them received a quieter we-can-keep-both line by Tuesday.

A neighbor two seats over is deciding whether this church can sit together under one Name, or whether one unofficial keep-both sentence writes the public life the rest of you have to live under.

This is a sermon about what 1 Kings 18 changes between you. If you preach it as a map of anyone's private indecision or hallway temperament, you will lie. If you preach it as Elijah on Carmel, a real drought, real prophets of Baal, a repaired altar, and fire that falls on soaked wood, you give this church a God who will not share the Name. You also take away the cheap community move that treats a borrowed keep-both sentence as the peace the rest of the room already has to keep.
