The God We Can Control: The Witness Our Neighbors Can See

The unused invite is still facedown under the mat. Last month a neighbor on this block asked, out loud, where God went after the delay. The porch answered with a verse, a mission card, and a promise to follow up. By Sunday the same hallway can quote the mountain and still leave that neighbor to make a god they can carry, as if the calf were a private project the street does not have to see.

A kid on the sidewalk is deciding whether this church is a people who wait under an unseen God or a people who print Yahweh and then fashion something smaller that can go before them.

This is a sermon about the witness our neighbors can already see. If you preach it as a map of anyone's private impatience, you will lie. If you preach it as Israel at the foot of the mountain, you give this church a God who will not be managed, and a people who cannot treat a printed living-God sentence as the witness the street can already name.
