God in the Quiet After the Fire: The Responsibility in the Room

Ready to Preach

God meets exhausted servants with care, truth, and a renewed assignment, so the people who still hold this room cannot treat a printed we-already-handled-the-rest sentence as the charge they already keep.

God in the Quiet After the Fire: The Responsibility in the Room Preview · Opening of the manuscript The elder minutes still have last month's arise-and-eat sentence. We will rest the tired when the fire has a name. Three chairs around this table already know which household asked for a slower week after a named public stand, and which chair still treats the next named feeding as staff work. One of those chairs called a we-already-handled-the-rest sentence prudence and then kept the meeting on time. Nobody spoke the next word the room already needed.

A man two chairs down signed the last vote that printed rest on the packet. He also signed the first one that left a named exhausted servant in a smaller office. He has not asked who still holds the room.

This is a sermon about the responsibility already in the room. If you preach 1 Kings 19 as a map of anyone's private burnout, you will lie. If you preach it as Elijah after Carmel, a real Jezebel, a real wilderness, a real cave, and a God who feeds a man who asked to die then sends him toward Damascus, you give this church a God who meets exhausted servants with care, truth, and work. You also take away the cheap leadership move that treats a printed we-already-handled-the-rest sentence as the charge the chairs already keep.
