Truth Has a Walking Pace

A pastoral sermon from 2 John 1:1-6 for a church that has been made to choose between standing for the truth and loving people. This short personal letter refuses the whole setup. It uses truth and love freely in its opening lines and never treats them as opponents, giving both the same verb: walk. Grace, mercy, and peace reach us in truth and love together, and the letter presses that gift into a single road of obedient love we owe one another. The message moves a divided congregation off the opposing hills where the two words get shouted at each other and onto the walking pace where they get lived out together, in kept promises and in honest conversations that still guard a person's dignity.
