The Humility of the Small Instruction: The Responsibility in the Room

Three chairs around this table already know which household asked for an ordinary wash after a named public wound, and which chair still treats the next named going-down as staff work.

One of those chairs called a we-would-have-done-a-great-thing sentence prudence and then kept the meeting on time. Nobody spoke the servants' question the room already needed.

A man two chairs down signed the last vote that printed humility on the packet. He also signed the first one that left a named unused wash in a smaller office. He has not asked who still holds the room.

This is a sermon about the responsibility already in the room. If you preach 2 Kings 5 as a map of anyone's private pride, you will lie. If you preach it as Naaman of Syria, a real leprosy, a real little girl, a real letter, a real door, a real Jordan, and a God who meets a raging captain through a child's word and a servant's question, you give this church a God who will not let rank write the only charge the chairs already keep.
