Nobody asked what the house still holds.

A sponsor two seats over signed the last welcome that printed the Shema on the packet. He also signed the first one that left the named household in a smaller room. He has a sentence about healing. He has not asked who still waits for a morning when a living people is still standing over a full table they already named as care.

This is a sermon for a church that already knows how to survive a wreck and does not know how to gather after one. If you preach Deuteronomy 6 as a map of anyone's private relapse, you will lie. If you preach it as Israel on the edge of a land they did not build, receiving houses they did not fill, then being told to teach, talk, bind, and write before they eat and are full, you give this church a living God whose rescue still belongs after the plates are filled, and you take away the cheap road that hides behind a finished gratitude sentence.
