The man who sold the story sits in the second chair with a restored title and a later-chapter line this room already knows how to print. The woman they threw sits two rows back. She signed the covenant. She also learned the new grammar of this church: healing as a finished meaning, restoration as a class, the official version as the road back. Nobody staged a refusal. The week arrived like a calendar that learned how to keep the class and still treat the cistern as a chapter you skip so the room can look recovered.

A man in the far row came back after his own mouth wrote the wreck. He wanted the old name retired. The room thanked him. Then the room started talking about Egypt, and how God must already have something better lined up, and how nobody needed to sit with the throw if the later sentence was already true. He needed a people who would tell the truth about human hands and still believe God was not finished.

This is a sermon for a church that already knows how to survive a wreck and does not know how to walk after one. If you preach Genesis 37 as Joseph's recovery from a mistake, you will lie. Joseph is thrown. The brothers fail. If you preach it as Joseph's brothers throwing him into a real pit in history, you give this church a God whose long work human betrayal cannot cancel, and you take away the cheap road that starts with a later chapter.
