A Seat at the King's Table: The Responsibility in the Room

Ready to Preach

Covenant kindness restores dignity to someone expecting judgment, so the people who still hold this room cannot treat a quieter unused place as the oversight they already keep.

A Seat at the King's Table: The Responsibility in the Room Preview · Opening of the manuscript The unused chair at the head is still pulled back. Last month this church printed we will keep the table on the elder packet after a household named a fear this table already finished explaining: a grandson of a former leader still eating far from any seat the minutes would have to watch, a quieter disciple this sanctuary already called elsewhere, a named next act the chairs already treated as staff work. One hallway said they sit elsewhere. The room received that sentence as if it were the only public news the people who still sit here are allowed to keep.

A man two chairs down signed the last vote that printed the keeping line on the packet. He also signed the first one that left the named work in a smaller office. He has a sentence about caution. He has not asked who still remains of the house this table already knows how to file.

This is a sermon about the responsibility already in the room. If you preach it as a map of anyone's personality or unfinished shame, you will lie. If you preach it as David after the throne, a real king, a real grandson of Saul, a real house in Lo Debar, and a God whose kindness keeps a sworn word after the friend is dead, you give this church a God who will not let a quieter unused place become the last word the chairs are allowed to keep.
