The God We Can Control: What This Changes Between Us

The extra chairs are still stacked against the fellowship-hall wall from last Wednesday. A household in the small group asked, out loud, where God went after the scan. The room answered with a verse, a meal date, and a hallway hug. By Sunday the same table can quote the mountain and still leave that household to make a god they can carry, as if the calf were a private project the rest of the camp does not have to name.

A teenager in the balcony is deciding whether this church is a people who wait together under an unseen God or a set of private golds with better songs.

This is a sermon about what Exodus 32 changes between you. If you preach it as a map of anyone's private impatience, you will lie. If you preach it as Israel at the foot of the mountain, you give this church a God who will not be managed, and a people who cannot treat a brother's false god as a stall the camp does not have to carry.
