Someone in this room will walk out of the benediction and treat the next seven days as a staffing problem.

A slot opened. A king died, or a staff member left, or a ministry went quiet. The instinct will be to raise a hand before anyone has named the unclean thing still sitting in the mouth.

This is a sermon for a church that already loves Isaiah 6 and still quotes "Here I am. Send me" as if the coal were optional furniture. If you preach this vision as a map of anyone's private weather, you will lie. If you preach it as a technique that makes a hard week applaud the volunteer, you will lie in a different direction.

Preach it as a prophetic call. God is holy. Holiness exposes. God provides cleansing from his own altar.

Only then does he ask whom he will send. I have filled a slot with a clean sentence and still left the coal on the altar.
