We will not forget. Three chairs around this table already know which household named a full week after the last vote, and which chair still treats the next named fullness as staff work. One of those chairs called a we-built-this sentence stewardship and then kept the meeting on time. Nobody spoke the next word the camp already needed.

A man two chairs down signed the last vote that printed the Shema on the packet. He also signed the first one that left the named table in a smaller office. He has a sentence about gratitude. He has not asked who still holds the room.

This is a sermon about the responsibility already in the room. If you preach Deuteronomy 6 as a map of anyone's private gratitude program, you will lie. If you preach it as Israel on the edge of a land they did not build, receiving houses they did not fill, then being told to teach, talk, bind, and write before they eat and are full, you give this church a living God whose rescue still belongs after the plates are filled, and a people who cannot treat a finished we-built-this sentence as the charge the chairs already keep.
