The bag is already in the drawer. One weight for the buyer. One weight for the house. Nobody put that on a discipleship calendar. The practice taught the household what this life actually believes about honesty. A child already knows which weight comes out when a stranger stands at the counter. Formation happened before anyone used the word.
Tuesday is already using the scale. Someone is filling a form. Someone is telling a shorter story to a neighbor than the one the household already lives. Someone is deciding whether the second chair gets the true number. The sanctuary will quote Proverbs 11 in two days. The practice is already happening.
The temptation that walks in behind a good reputation is quieter than scandal. Keep the honest weight for Sunday. Keep the other one for Tuesday. Quote integrity in the room. Live a second measure in the kitchen. If you preach Proverbs 11 as a slogan this church already knows how to recite, you will leave the bag unopened. Preach it as wisdom: integrity and wise counsel build what dishonest gain cannot sustain.
