One hallway said they already know about that household. The room received that sentence as if it were the only public news a person who did not choose the week is allowed to keep.

A deacon two seats over signed the welcome card. He also left the named chair under a they-already-know file. He has a sentence about belonging. He has not asked who still eats far from Jerusalem.

This is a sermon for a church that already knows how to preach grace and does not know how to set a place for a person who expected judgment. If you preach 2 Samuel 9 as a map of anyone's private shame, you will lie. If you preach it as David in Jerusalem, a real king, a real grandson of Saul, a real house in Lo Debar, and a God whose kindness keeps a covenant after the friend is dead, you give this church a God who will not let a finished they-already-know sentence become the last word a person who did not choose the week is allowed to keep.
