The Mountain of Provision: For the Week You Did Not Choose

The folder is still on the passenger seat. She picked it up Thursday after the consult. The words are ordinary until they are not. She has been driving the same loop since then: school drop-off, the pharmacy window, the church lot where she sits for ten minutes before she can go inside. Nobody voted for this week. The week arrived.

A man two rows over has a different folder. A date on a termination letter. The badge is still on his key ring. He has been treating the next faithful act as something he can postpone until he knows whether a ram is coming.

This is a sermon for a church sitting in a week it did not choose. If you preach Genesis 22 as a map of the hearer's diagnosis, layoff, or child, you will lie. If you preach it as Yahweh testing Abraham in history and naming the mountain after provision, you give this church a God whose provision is discovered on the road of costly trust.
