A Seat at the King's Table: The Road Back After Failure

Ready to Preach

Covenant kindness restores dignity to someone expecting judgment, so the road back after failure cannot hide behind a finished they-probably-need-space sentence.

A Seat at the King's Table: The Road Back After Failure Preview · Opening of the manuscript The recovery packet still has last month's we-will-restore sentence. After a named wreck this church already finished explaining, one hallway said they probably need space. The room received that sentence as if it were the only public news a restored name is allowed to keep.

A sponsor two seats over printed the kindness line on the packet. He also signed the first note that left the named work under a they-probably-need-space file. He has a sentence about healing. He has not asked who still waits on the near side of Lo Debar.

This is a sermon for a church that already knows how to survive a wreck and does not know how to come back without dressing the return in someone else's distance. If you preach 2 Samuel 9 as a map of anyone's private relapse, you will lie. If you preach it as David after the throne, a real grandson of Saul expecting death, a real house in Lo Debar, a real sending, and a table that stays set after the friend is dead, you give this church a God whose covenant kindness restores dignity to someone expecting judgment, and you take away the cheap road that hides behind a finished they-probably-need-space sentence.
